After that, he returned home and was again admitted to the hospital. He was also given ventilator treatment due to a coronavirus infection. But he died without treatment.

Now his body has been brought home by ambulance and the DMDK flag has been flown at half-mast. Tens of thousands of tearful fans gathered in front of the captain's residence to see his body. Also, morning shows have been canceled in all theaters following Vijayakanth's death.
In a little while, the captain's body will be kept at the DMDK office for public tribute. It is also said that his last rites will be held at Sri Andal Alaghar college in Vijayakanth.
