As the JN.1 type of coronavirus is increasing in karnataka, the state government has issued new guidelines. The central and state governments have been taking various measures to control the spread of the disease as the number of cases of coronavirus is increasing across the country. It has advised precautionary measures such as wearing masks in public, maintaining social distance, isolating infected people at home for seven days, and avoiding sending children with symptoms to schools. It also advised the elderly and those with co-morbidities to get 'precautionary dose vaccination'. To facilitate this, the karnataka government decided to purchase 30,000 doses of Carbevax vaccine from the central government.
However, state health minister Dinesh Kundurao said the government has not imposed any restrictions on New Year celebrations and gatherings. He also said that the government will issue detailed guidelines in this regard. He also said "-Everyone is advised to wear a data-face mask, especially those above 60 years of age, and those with co-morbidities must wear a mask. Children, those with cold, and flu symptoms should be kept under observation at home without being sent to school. If necessary, tests will also be done. If the persons infected with Covid are not admitted to the hospital for a week. He emphadata-sized that they should be isolated at home.
Continuing, he said, "Compulsory contingency leave should be given to all those who are quarantined at home and working in government and non-government sectors, while those who are hospitalized should be given special leave for the duration of hospitalization. Guidelines will be issued in this regard." According to the latest count, 34 cases of JN.1 type of corona have been confirmed in Karnataka. While 69 people have been confirmed to be infected with JN.1 across the country, karnataka has the highest number of infected people at 34. However, the health minister said that there is no need to panic about the coronavirus.
The state government has directed the health authorities to ensure health facilities including oxygen and bed facilities in hospitals. Also, it has been advised to conduct a death audit in the state. Earlier last Monday, karnataka Chief minister Siddaramaiah convened a high-level meeting to assess the situation regarding the JN.1 sub-variant of the coronavirus in the state. In this meeting, he directed the authorities to ensure that persons above 60 years of age wear masks indoors and outdoors.
