If a person observes wrongdoing during childhood, they often report it to their parents at home, and if children fail to heed at home, they may bring the matter to the attention of teachers at school. A comparable approach is seemingly being adopted by the Bangalore police, as per a recent decision aimed at curbing traffic violations. While the issuance of fines for breaking traffic rules is a common practice, Bangalore police are taking it a step further. Not only will minors be counselled, but individuals failing to adhere to traffic regulations, especially those in the IT sector, will now data-face reporting directly to their employers. This initiative, introduced by the Bangalore east Division Traffic police, is designed to raise awareness about road safety, with a focus on the IT Corridor and Outer Ring Road as a pilot project. The police assert that if successful, this reporting mechanism will be expanded citywide.
The decision to implement this drive in east Bengaluru stems from the observation that software engineers in this area frequently violate traffic rules in a rush to reach their destinations. To address this issue, the police will relay relevant information, based on the individual's ID card, directly to the person's employer through email and WhatsApp.
The Bangalore east Division Deputy Commissioner, kuldeep Kumar Jain, emphadata-sized the urgency of checking the aggression of software engineers, suggesting that software companies should also play a role in organizing awareness programs on road safety and traffic rules.
