In a startling occurrence that took place in the parliament on Wednesday, two individuals leaped from the public gallery into the lok sabha chamber during zero Hour, unleashed yellow gas from canisters, and yelled slogans before being subdued by the MPs. Approximately concurrently, two further defendants hurled colored gas from canisters while yelling "tanashahi nahi chalegi" in the vicinity of the parliament buildings. The police claim that six persons—five of whom have already been apprehended—well-coordinated and painstakingly planned the security breach at the Lok Sabha.
A complaint was filed against each of them under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), an anti-terror law. The anti-terror unit special cell is looking into the situation.
On thursday, the parliamentary procedures proceeded under heightened security. Security personnel kept a close eye on everything all day. Before approaching the parliament entry gates, each visitor was required to present a valid entry pass and other documentation, a delhi police official told PTI. Fifteen lawmakers were suspended on thursday amid extreme disruption during the legislative session. The rajya sabha and lok sabha were suspended until Friday.
Atul Shrivastava, the counsel for delhi police, stated on thursday that all of the accused individuals who have been detained in the case were brought before the UAPA special court and the court after hearing both sides of the case and taking into consideration the material that was available before the court. The accused have been placed into police custody for a period of seven days by the court.
