Israel-Hamas hostage-release agreement postponed...?


Israel declared that the ceasefire agreement would not go into force till Friday, one day after achieving a major diplomatic breakthrough to reach a truce agreement with Hamas. Crossfire was initially predicted to be momentarily stopped on thursday by both sides. Tzachi Hanegbi, Israel's national security adviser, did not provide an explanation for the hold-up when he made the news. media sources, however, indicate that some last-minute issues were still being worked out.

According to the agreement, israel will release some Palestinian inmates in exchange for Hamas releasing at least fifty of the approximately 240 hostages it took during its attack on israel on october 7 over the course of four days.
