Dogbite victims gets Rs 10,000 for 'each teeth mark'!!!

The punjab and haryana high court issued a ruling stating that anybody injured by stray dogs shall receive financial aid of at least Rs 10,000 each tooth mark. The court also held the state "primarily responsible" for providing compensation in these situations.

In handling a plethora of 193 petitions, the high court said that in dog bite instances, the help should be at least Rs 10,000 “per teeth mark” and at least Rs 20,000 for every 0.2 cm of wound where the flesh has peeled off, according to indian Express. In order to decide such compensation, it also mandated that committees be formed in punjab, haryana, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. These committees would be led by the deputy commissioners of their respective districts. The injunction was issued in response to the hundreds of cases of stray dogs biting people that have been reported in the media in recent years.

Notably, Parag Desai, the executor director of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group, passed away last month from injuries he sustained while attempting to fend off an attack by street dogs outside his ahmedabad home. A teenage kid in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, died in september from rabies after hiding a dog bite from his parents for more than a month because he was afraid of being in trouble. There are reportedly more than 1 crore pet dogs in the nation, compared to over 3.5 crore stray canines.
