Opposition to Uniform Civil Code with vote bank in mind

S Venkateshwari
Former mp said that chief minister Stalin and DMK allies are opposing the General Civil Code keeping vote bank in mind. Maitreya condemned. His statement in this regard: criminal laws and punishments in india are common to all. But the legal laws like marriage, divorce, inheritance, property distribution, adoption are based on caste, religion, ethnicity and culture.
Apart from all these, general civil law is the general law for marriage, divorce, inheritance, distribution of property, adoption etc. Article 44 of the Constitution of india framed by Ambedkar states about this law. But, even after 73 years, no steps have been taken to implement the General Civil Code. This is a promise in every election manifesto of the BJP. It is reprehensible that chief minister Stalin and DMK allies are talking about voter politics, forgetting that if the Common Civil Code is introduced, security for Muslim women will be ensured.
It is regrettable that Opposition leader Palaniswami has also passed a resolution in the AIADMK district secretaries' meeting against the General Civil Code. The late former chief minister Jayalalithaa voiced her support for the General Civil Code in 2003. General Civil Law is the imperative of the times. He said this.
