BJP Annamalai on DGP Vijayakumar Death

S Venkateshwari
BJP state president annamalai has suggested that police officers should be given leave of 10 or 15 days twice a year. He further said, "If chief minister M. K. stalin pays respect to DIG Vijayakumar, he should fill the vacant posts in the police department on wartime basis."
In this regard, he told reporters at the coimbatore Airport today (July 7): “There is extreme stress in the police department, especially at the lower levels of constables, head constables and assistant inspectors, unlike in any other department. Above that there is administrative stress for the officers. They will have work. Also, family is in one place and work place is several hundreds of kilometers away. The police department needs to be reformed first. The stress on the police should be reduced. In this, tamil Nadu should be a pioneer.
Currently there are ten thousand vacancies in tamil Nadu police Department. Once it is filled, the work pressure on the existing guards will be reduced. So, if chief minister M.K.Stalin pays respect to DIG Vijayakumar, he should fill up the vacancies in the police department in two years on a wartime basis. After DMK came to power, a committee headed by former Justice CT Selvam was formed for this purpose. The committee's report is yet to come. It should be made public and implemented.
Police officers are not eligible for transfer for two years. Security guards do not even have toilet facilities. Therefore, food, toilet facilities, drinking water and transport facilities should be provided at the places where the guards work. Mandatory one day leave per week. Also, a total of 10 or 15 days of leave should be granted twice a year.
A Special Investigation Team should conduct an inquiry into the death of DIG vijayakumar under the supervision of the High Court. They should thoroughly investigate the cause of death. The government should give job to Vijayakumar's successor in 'Group A' qualification. Whether the suicide was induced, all factors including stress should be investigated.
The Enforcement Department's investigation against Coimbatore's former minister-in-charge Senthil balaji is ongoing. There is also a case in coimbatore in this regard. In this case, Vijayakumar's suicide happened. We are not talking about relating anything. However, everything must be viewed in its entirety. There is extreme stress on the police officers as to how to handle a case.
A mentally weak person cannot clear the exam and get through all the IPS training. He said that the reason behind the suicide should be investigated and the cell phone included.
