School education minister Anbil Mahes said that in the coming academic year, classes will be held on Saturdays as schools open late after the summer vacation. Most parents and teachers have asked the education administration to postpone the school reopening scheduled for june 12 due to the increase in temperature in chennai and other areas of the State.

In a press conference held in chennai, school education minister Anbil Mahes said, "Proper inquiry will be conducted regarding students not being able to participate in national sports competitions. Proper information about the competition has not been received. More than 9 states have not participated in the competition. Action has been taken against the wrongdoers. An explanation has been sought from the officials who were negligent. Notice has been sent.

Late opening of schools after the summer vacation will result in a shortfall of 4 hours per subject in the coming academic year. To overcome the shortage, schools will be held on Saturdays to accommodate lessons. In the coming academic year, classes will be held on Saturdays for the students so that the students are not burdened with the subjects and the teachers are not overworked," he said.
