The founder of popular Rasna soft drinks passed away due to a heart attack. He was 85 years old. Areez Pirojshaw Khambatta, the founder of the famous Rasna soft drink, lived in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He has been suffering from a long-term health problem and is undergoing treatment for it. However, he died of a sudden heart attack.
 He is 85. Areez Pirojshaw is survived by his wife Persis and children Biruj, Delna, and Rujan. Also survived by a niece, Pinaisha, and grandchildren. His Rasna soft drink has branches in 60 countries. He introduced Rasna in the 1970s as a cheaper alternative to overpriced soft drinks. According to this, Rasna was sold in 18 lakh retail stores in the country.
It gained popularity in the 1980s and 1990s. Rs.5 worth of rasna can be bought and exchanged for 32 cups. Thus, the price was at the level of 15 paise for a glass of Rasna. Rasna has also won several awards over the years for its taste and quality. Several social welfare programs including health welfare, education, and grants are being carried out on behalf of the foundation which is functioning under the leadership of Firoz Shah.
