Alcohol lovers on Diwali..!? Sales of so many crores..!?
On the occasion of the diwali festival, in the last three days in tamil Nadu, Rs. 708 crores of alcoholic beverages have been sold, according to the Tasmac administration. Tasmac is the most revenue-generating sector in tamil Nadu. So much alcohol is being sold. If it is the festive season, it has brought hundreds of crores of revenue to the tamil Nadu government.
It is customary for people who celebrate diwali to drink alcohol together with friends and relatives. Thus, on the days leading up to diwali every year, the sale of liquor in 'Tasmac' liquor shops will be stopped. Last year on the occasion of diwali day, 2 days of november 3rd and 4th, liquor was sold to the tune of 431.03 crore rupees.
According to this, in the three days of Saturday, Sunday, and monday including yesterday, Rs.708 crore worth of alcohol has been sold. It seems that on a single day yesterday only, 244.08 crores worth of alcoholic beverages have been sold. In particular, yesterday alone the maximum liquor sales of Rs.52.87 crores took place in the madurai district.
Likewise, according to the Tasmac administration, liquor sales in salem district amounted to Rs.49.21 crores, in chennai to Rs.48.80 crores, in Trichy to Rs.47.78 crores, and in coimbatore to Rs.45.42 crores.
