When star actress Nayanthara and her husband Vignesh Shivan announced the birth of their twin boys, Uyir and Ulagam, on october 9th, a tremendous dispute broke out. After getting married on june 9 of this year, Nayan and Vignesh became parents four months later.

Ma Subramanian, the health minister for tamil Nadu, initiated an investigation because there were rumours that Nayan and Vignesh had infringed the Surrogacy Regulation Act 2021. In a stunning turn of events, Nayan and Vignesh have both submitted affidavits to the tamil Nadu health Department stating that their marriage was registered six years ago and that the surrogate mother is a relative of Nayan's who manages the actress' business in Dubai.

Additionally, Nayan and Vignesh notified the health department that the surrogacy contract was signed in december 2021 and that they had not broken any regulations. The affidavit and the star couple's marriage registration certificate were also presented. Only a couple that has been married for five years is eligible for surrogacy, according to the Surrogacy Regulation Act of 2021. The wife must be between the ages of 25 and 50, and the husband between the ages of 26 and 55. Additionally, neither of the couple's biological or adopted children must be alive.

The law further stipulates that a surrogate mother must be a close cousin of the intended parents, a married woman with a child of her own, between the ages of 25 and 35, and who has only ever served as a surrogate mother once. The hospital in chennai where Nayan and Vignesh's twins were delivered has been located in the meantime. The couple might, however, receive a clean bill of health from the health department.

The law also states that one of them should be impotent to carry out this procedure and now the question is who is incapable? tamil actor Bayilvaan Ranganathan has claimed that Nayanthara is incapable of giving birth to a baby even before her marriage.
