Massive show at Vizag: Did it serve Jagan purpose?
It's interesting to note that the YSRC cultural troupes and party members sang and chanted "Visakha, mana rajadhani" (Vizag is our capital) more often than they demanded that the state have three capitals. The ministers, MPs, MLAs, and MLCs who spoke to the audience, however, tended to criticise Pawan Kalyan, the leader of the Jana Sena party, and N chandrababu naidu, the leader of the telugu Desam party, for insisting on developing amaravati as the sole state capital.
On hand for the event were ttd Chairman, assembly Speaker Tammineni Seetharam, Ministers Botsa Satyanarayana, Dharmana prasad Rao, gudivada amarnath, R. K. Roja, and V. Rajini, as well as YSRCP North Andhra Coordinator Y.V. Subba Reddy. The opposition parties' resistance to Visakhapatnam serving as the administrative capital was questioned by the ministries and YSRCP leaders. As chandrababu naidu and his followers had amassed sizable lands in amaravati, the YSRCP leaders said that chandrababu naidu is attempting to safeguard his interests by using the padyatra by amaravati farmers. The question now is if jagan Mohan Reddy's goal of boosting capital sentiment for Visakhapatnam and gaining political benefit in the upcoming elections was actually achieved by the rally.
It would be a major advantage for jagan if the capital for the vizag demand caught up with the residents of Visakhapatnam and other areas of north-coastal Andhra and turned into a significant counter-agitation against the amaravati demand. However, it will end up like the Samaikyandhra movement if there is no such demand and the party is unable to stir up enough euphoria and passion among the residents of north coastal Andhra. It all depends on how the amaravati farmers are received once they arrive in Vizag.
