Telangana sounds flood alert along Godavari

Due to the potential of flooding, the telangana government on monday issued an alert in the districts located along the Godavari River. Instructing Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to notify the Collectors and Superintendents of police of all the districts in the Godavari catchment area, including kothagudem and Mulugu, was chief minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.

The flood flow of the Godavari is continuously rising and has crossed 9 lakh cusecs as a result of intense rain in the upper riparian area, according to the Chief Minister's Office. The chief minister gave instructions to the staff to quickly set up a control room in the secretariat and periodically check the situation. Godavari projects were getting a tonne of funding. To release water downstream, the 35 crest gates of Sri ram Sagar have been unlocked by the authorities. At Sri ram Sagar, the flood discharge is 2.06 lakh cusecs.

To release 6.7 lakh cusecs, 85 of yellampalli reservoir's gates have been opened. Medigadda's flood discharge is 8.2 lakh cusecs. Godavari is experiencing floods for the second time in the past two months. Crops had suffered extensive damage in July as a result of unprecedented floods. In portions of telangana, the last three to four days of nonstop rain have caused devastation. The ongoing rains have caused some cities and villages to flood. Villages in some of the districts were shut off because the roadways were flooded.
