We have seen that the city of Bengaluru was flooded due to the recent unprecedented heavy rains. Everyone from the common people to the middle class, the rich, and the millionaires got flooded and the people moved out of their houses and moved to safer places. In this situation, the information that has come out that the rent is charged up to 40 thousand rupees per night in the main hotels in Bangalore has caused a great shock. While the normal rent was initially charged at the lodge, there are reports that a few hotels are now charging a room rent of up to 40,000 per night following the increase in the number of people visiting the lodges.
The common people, who have lost their belongings due to heavy rains, are now shocked to hear that they are being charged Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per night for their stay. Meena, who happens to be the CEO of a famous technology company, told the media that she paid 42,000 for a night at a hotel on Old airport Road.
Many hotels in Old airport Road, Whitefield, Outer Ring Road, and koramangala are fully booked till Friday. Hotel managers said that rooms were booked for 10-15 days, some hotels did not allow pets, and some hotels charged extra for pets. On the one hand, high rent is collected but on the other hand, based on goodwill, some hotels are collecting 50 percent discount for the poor and middle class to stay.
The houses of billionaires like wipro chairman Rishad Premji, Baiju Ravindran, and Britannia CEO varun Perry living in Bengaluru did not escape the flood. Some of the businessmen and their families were rescued in boats.Meanwhile, the indian Meteorological Department has predicted continuous and heavy rains in Bengaluru for the next five days.
The government is taking necessary precautions as the IMD has issued a red alert. karnataka government is taking steps to shift the ground floor residents to safer places.
