Panni Kutty Movie Review - A Jolly Good Fun Flick

G GOWTHAM
Uthravathi (Karunakaran), the main character of Panni Kutty, is the type of person for whom life is nothing but never-ending difficulties. His sister Nilavathi's (Shathiga's) marriage is in difficulty. Periya Karuppu, his father, is an alcoholic (TP Gajendran). When he tries to kill himself, even his mother doesn't give a damn. Even his attempts to court Kaveri (Lakshmi Priya), the owner of a modest restaurant, have failed. Even in his attempts to end his life, he is so unlucky.
As a result, when he decides to steal a two-wheeler on the counsel of a seer (Dindigul Leoni), whom his friend brunei (Ramar) leads him to, we interpret that as a desperate act from a man who is grasping at straws. And he is thrilled when his luck changes. But soon after, there is an accident, and the seer now commands him to track down the piglet who was responsible and run over him once more! However, Uthra is unaware that Thittani (Yogi Babu) is guarding the piglet because he needs to make sure it's secure so he may get married.
With his follow-up to the superb thriller Kirumi, filmmaker Anucharan opts for a lighthearted rural comedic drama with Panni Kutty. The movie is entertaining from beginning to end because to its enjoyment of situational humour. The director infuses the movie with wacky humour right from the first scene, in which we witness Uthra attempting suicide (with a great usage of the TMS song Aararivil Ore Arivu Outtu), without making you squeal with laughter but rather with a pleasant smile on your data-face as you watch. There are no dull moments thanks to the performers' chemistry, who also make the casting feel natural.
More significantly, the climax lacks sufficient impact. One of the factors contributing to Kirumi's success was its subdued climax, which had enough of impact. We don't receive a showy message or an emotional realisation in this instance. Instead, we get a straightforward conclusion that lacks any real impact and feels overly simple and simplistic.
