The judges of the chennai high court have ordered the forest department to prioritise and implement environmental protection measures. The video of elephants slipping through a barrier in the Nilgiris district's Coonoor forest has gone viral. Judges Bharathidasan and Satheeskumar of the high court voluntarily took up the matter after that. "Measures are being taken to avert natural mortality and death of elephants by train crashes," stated supriya Shahu, Principal Secretary, Forest Department.
A video of plastic and booze stacked up in the Coonoor neighbourhood was also shown to the judges. The surprised justices questioned why alcohol sales in the mountains should not be prohibited, and if there was another way to manage alcohol circulation in the mountains, as well as the federal and state governments' efforts to safeguard animals. They further stated that on april 9 and 10, they will visit the Coonoor forest, Udagai, and Mudumalai locations.
Under the presidency of high court Judge V. Bharathidasan, Justices R. Subramanian, N. Satheeskumar, M. Dandapani, R. Pongiyapan, and GK Ilanthirayan inspected the Nilgiris today. They went to the Udagai Central bus Stand's automatic water ATMs, drank the water, and checked its quality. S.P. Amrit, the district Collector, was questioned about the activities. They talked with tree planting officials after touring the Wenlock Valley area near Udaipur.
