TN Student commit Suicide due to Forced Religion Conversion

After being compelled to convert to christianity, Lavanya, a 12th class student in Thanjavur, tamil Nadu, committed suicide. She perished in Tanjavur Medical college Hospital yesterday after physicians were unable to save her. Lavanya (17) lived in Thanjavur's st Michael's Girls' home dormitory. Lavanya admitted in a video that she was continuously punished by the hostel warden and was also forced to clean all of the rooms in the hostel. The girl claimed that she was also pressured to convert to christianity on a regular basis.

Distressed by these events, the girl attempted suicide by ingesting insecticide. Muruganandam, Lavanya's dad from Ariyalur, received word on january 10 that his daughter had been brought to the hospital after vomiting on january 9 and complaining of acute stomach pain. Lavanya was transferred to the Tanjore Medical college Hospital by Muruganandam. She told the medics about her experience and tried to commit suicide when she woke up.

The physicians then contacted the Thirukattupalli police department. Lavanya was then questioned by the police. The boarding school superintendent had harassed Lavanya and compelled her to convert to christianity, according to the police investigation. According to the complaint, warden Sahaya Mary was arrested (62). Lavanya died as a result of her inability to respond to the therapy. The incident has created quite a commotion in Thirukattupalli.
