On january 5, prime minister narendra Modi's cavalcade was stalled for about twenty minutes on an overpass in punjab due to farmers blocking the flyover. A huge security breakdown occurred when private cars were detected approaching the cavalcade. According to the MHA, the punjab government failed to deploy adequate security to ensure the safety of any road traffic. The supreme court is hearing the case today.

Tushar Mehta, the Solicitor General, stated: "The journey had been well arranged. The state authorities were in charge of ensuring that the route was scanned. It was not a spur-of-the-moment decision. The backup convoy route was maintained in reserve." PM narendra Modi's convoy allegedly proceeded from bathinda airport after the DGP informed the SPG that the highway was clear, according to the Centre.

Hima Kohli, a judge, stated: "You're giving the court the appearance that you've already made up your mind. So, why did you come to court on friday and tell us you were going to keep your horses?" surya Kant, a supreme court judge, stated: "Your notice of a show-cause is contradictory. You announce you're forming a committee [for investigation] in the same notification, and then you declare they're guilty. Who is the one who has found them guilty? What was the source of the inquiry?"
