Watch: Chris Cairns speaks on his greatest challenge

Cairns, considered one of the finest all-rounders of his generation, represented new zealand in 62 tests, 215 one-day internationals, and two Twenty20 matches between 1989 and 2006 before becoming a television analyst. Cairns was named one of the Wisden Almanack's five cricketers of the year in 2000 when he was at the height of his abilities.

As he begins recovery following a major health scare, cricket veteran chris Cairns says he is ready to confront the toughest challenge he has ever data-faced. Last month, the former blac cap Captain, 51, fell in Canberra following a severe heart attack that resulted in aortic dissection, or a rupture in the inner layer of the body's main artery.
After undergoing life-saving emergency heart surgery in Sydney, Cairns experienced a stroke in his spine, paralysing his legs. Cairns' family announced last month that he would be undergoing extensive rehabilitation at a specialised spinal facility, and the former all-rounder updated supporters on his status via a video on social media tonight.

Cairns expressed gratitude to the physicians, nurses, surgeons, and experts who assisted him in Canberra, Sydney, and abroad. Cairns thanked fans for the "uplifting, modest, and wonderful" comments he had received over the previous six weeks, praising those who have helped him.
