COVID Vaccine trials begin on Children at Patna
Patna's All india Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has started the pediatric trials for the COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by the Bharat Biotech, Covaxin. It should be noted that Covaxin received the drugs Controller General of india (DCGI) nod to conduct clinical trials in children on May 11th. Regarding this, VK Paul had said, "Covaxin has been approved by the drugs Controller General of india (DCGI), for Phase II/III clinical trials in the age group of 2 to 18 years."
India has already started the largest vaccination drive in a phased manner and the health workers got the first priority. The next phase of COVID vaccination was given to those over 60 years of age with specific health conditions. Covaxin received the drugs Controller General of india (DCGI) nod to conduct clinical trials in children on May 11th.
Later, the vaccination was given to people aged more than 45 years. The third phase of the vaccination started on May 1st for the beneficiary aged between 18-44. Now, the trials have begun for Children as well. Right now india has approved three vaccines, Bharat Biotech's Covaxin, Serum Institute's Covishield, and Russia's Sputnik V.
