Hikmet Kaya has proved that with determination and hard work the biggest goals can be achieved. Turkey-based Hikmet did not shy away from trees even after retiring from the post of forest management chief and continued to convert the barren land into a lush forest. Himket, who joined the city of Sinop in 1978, worked for 19 years and realized the importance of trees. Throughout his tenure as Head of Forest Management, he along with his team planted more than 30 million saplings with the help of villagers. Even after his retirement, these trees have been growing and have taken the form of a forest today.
According to Turkey's state-run news agency Anadolu Agency (AA), Hikmet never stopped working during its 25 years of service to accomplish this mission. When the barren land turned green, 41 years after starting this ambitious afforestation project, he captured it on his camera and told the world the difference between then and now. Looking at Hikmet's data-face, it can be guessed that how happy he is with the result. Talking to the media, Hikmet told that he is happy to convert the barren land into a forest with his hard work. The villagers also helped him in this work, for which he thanked him from the heart. Hikmet's work is a wonderful example for the rest of Turkey. Like Hikmet, in india too, an environment lover named Jadav Payeng is constantly engaged in planting trees. He prepared the forest spread over 1360 acres in Jorhat district of assam by making it single-handedly. The credit for creating the largest man-made forest on Majuli Island in assam also goes to Jadav.
