Abhinav Bindra, the gold medalist for the 10m air Rifles india at the 2008 beijing Olympic Sniper Championship, has been appointed as a member of the selection committee for the international Olympic Committee.


Abhinav Bindra, India's first Olympic individual gold medalist, has been on the IOC's selection committee for the international Olympic Committee (IOC). indian sniper Abhinav Bindra has been selected for a five-member team with former Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla.

Swedish high jump champion Stephen Home, the 2004 Athens olympics and US Olympic hockey gold medalist angela Rugiro have been appointed to the international Olympic Committee's election Commission.


Ruggiero ended his term as a member of the commission by 2018, as Home's tenure with the tokyo olympics came to an end. It is an important body empowered to identify and nominate new members of the international Olympic Committee.

Abhinav Bindra won gold in the 10m air Rifles at the 2008 beijing olympics, becoming the first indian to win individual gold in sports history. Apart from this, Abhinav Bindra has won gold at the World Championships and the Commonwealth Games. 


He has won Arjuna, Major Dayanand Khel Ratna and Padma bhushan awards. Along with Abhinav Bindra, Laura Chinchilla is also on the ioc selection committee. It is noteworthy that Chinchilla was President of costa rica from 2010 to 2014.
