🚇 Delhi Metro Timings Changed on Holi (March 4, 2026)

Kokila Chokkanathan
On the occasion of Holi (Wednesday, March4, 2026), the Delhi Metro rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced a temporary change in metro timings to allow commuters and staff to celebrate the festival safely.

🕑 Metro services Start Late — From 2:30PM

Instead of the regular early‑morning start, **metro trains across all lines — including the airport Express Line — will begin operations from about 2:30PM only. This means there will be no metro service in the morning or early afternoon on holi day.

  • 📍 Start Time: 2:30 PM from all terminal stations
  • 🚆 Services After Start: Trains will run as per the usual schedule for the rest of the evening.
Commuters should plan travel accordingly if they intend to use the metro before the afternoon — alternative transport like buses, autos or taxis may be required in the morning.

🚉 Why the Timing Change?

This temporary adjustment is made because:

  • Morning travel demand is usually low on festival days when people focus on celebrations.
  • It gives metro staff and commuters time to enjoy holi safely at home or in their communities without the pressure of morning commuting.
  • It also helps reduce station crowding during peak celebration times.
🚆 Other Metro services in the NCR

In addition to the delhi Metro timing changes:

  • Namo Bharat trains (regional metro) and Meerut Metro services will operate on limited hours on March 4. They are expected to begin services from around 5PM and run until about 10PM on holi day. These timings differ from usual full‑day schedules.
📌 Tips for Commuters on Holi

✔️ If you need to travel before 2:30PM, make alternate arrangements (bus, taxi, auto, etc.).
✔️ Plan your day ahead — morning metro service will not be available.
✔️ After 2:30 PM, metro services will run normally, so travel later in the day if possible.
✔️ Keep checking official DMRC updates in case of any last‑minute changes.

In summary: On Holi, March4, 2026, the Delhi Metro will start operating at around 2:30PM instead of early morning, with normal services continuing for the rest of the evening. All lines, including the airport Express Line, will follow this revised schedule to accommodate the festive celebrations.
