Chennai: tamil Nadu chief minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated the newly constructed ₹60-crore ‘L’-shaped flyover at the busy Madhya Kailash Junction area in Chennai.

The flyover, built at a cost of ₹60 crore, has been designed in a unique ‘L’ shape to effectively streamline traffic movement at one of the city’s most congested intersections. Madhya Kailash Junction serves as a key connectivity point linking major arterial roads, including rajiv gandhi Salai (OMR), Sardar patel Road, and the Adyar–Guindy corridor. The heavy traffic flow in this region, particularly during peak office hours, had long necessitated an infrastructure upgrade.

With the completion of the project, motorists traveling between Adyar, Thiruvanmiyur, Guindy, and the IT corridor are expected to experience significantly reduced travel time and smoother traffic movement. The flyover aims to decongest the junction by allowing vehicles to bypass traffic signals and minimize bottlenecks.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the chief minister highlighted the state government’s continued focus on urban infrastructure development to address Chennai’s growing transportation demands. He stated that such projects are part of a broader initiative to modernize the city’s road network and improve overall commuting efficiency.

Officials from the Highways Department and Greater chennai Corporation were present at the event. Authorities have also implemented safety measures, including improved lighting, road markings, and signage, to ensure safe usage of the flyover.

The inauguration of the new ‘L’-shaped flyover marks another significant step in enhancing Chennai’s urban mobility infrastructure and reflects the government’s commitment to easing traffic congestion in rapidly expanding metropolitan areas.
