Balasahana Suresh
1. Why You Might Have Two UANs

Having multiple Universal Account Numbers (UANs) is common if:

· You changed jobs and your new employer generated a fresh UAN

· Previous UAN was deactivated or not linked to your new PF account

· Mistakes during employee registration

2. Problems with Multiple UANs

· PF contributions get split across accounts

· Difficulty in claiming PF or tracking balances

· Hinders transfer, withdrawal, and pension benefits

3. Check Your UAN Status Online

· Visit the EPFO member portal (https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in)

· Enter your UAN and password

· Verify which UANs are active and linked to your PF accounts

4. How to Merge PF Accounts Online

Step 1: Log in to the EPFO portal using your active UAN
Step 2: Navigate to “Manage → Merge UAN”
Step 3: Enter the other UAN you want to merge
Step 4: Submit the request along with the required verification
Step 5: EPFO will verify and merge PF balances into the primary UAN

5. What Happens After Merging

· All PF balances from the secondary UAN will transfer to your primary UAN

· Future employer contributions will only reflect in your active UAN

· You can now withdraw, transfer, or track PF seamlessly

6. Tips for a Smooth Merge

· Ensure both UANs have KYC details updated (Aadhaar, PAN, bank)

· Keep employer details correct in both UANs

· Contact EPFO helpdesk if merge request data-faces delays

7. Quick Reminder

Merging UANs is safe, official, and preserves all PF benefits. Doing this online saves time compared to visiting the EPFO office.
