A substantial set of private letters that jawaharlal nehru wrote to sonia gandhi in 2008 while the UPA was in power have been returned at the request of the Prime Ministers' Museum and Library (PMML).

According to reports, in 2008, sonia gandhi sent a person to remove a significant portion of Jawaharlal Nehru's "donated" documents from the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library.

In his letter to congress leader rahul gandhi, historian Rizwan Kadri, who is located in Ahmedabad, stated that these documents relate to Nehru's communication with a number of people, including Jayaprakash Narayan, Edwina Mountbatten, Albert Einstein, and Aruna Asaf Ali."I wrote to sonia gandhi Ji on september 9 and to rahul gandhi once more. "I have asked rahul gandhi in the letter to return the collection that was withdrawn in 2008 at sonia gandhi Ji's request, which consists of about 51 cartons," Kadri told News18.

According to Kadri, these included letters about famous people including Jayaprakash Narayan, Padmaja Naidu, Edwina Mountbatten, Albert Einstein, Aruna Asaf Ali, Vijaya Laxmi Pandit, Babu Jagjivan Ram, and Govind Ballabh Pant.According to the letter, the NMML Society (now known as the Prime Ministers Museum & Library, or PMML) extensively discussed this topic during their most recent Annual General Meeting in february of this year.

It is "crucial that these records remain accessible to ensure comprehensive understanding of our nation's history," Kadri wrote in a letter to sonia Gandhi. Additionally, he had asked sonia to return the documents, give copies, or grant wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">digital access.

BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra stated that "this is intriguing" in reference to the indian Express article. "From What's today the Prime Minister's Museum and Library & formerly Nehru Museum and Library, the then UPA Chairperson sonia gandhi took away 51 cartoons of letters written by Nehru to various personalities including EDWINA MOUNTBATTEN," Patra wrote on X.

"What intrigues me is what would have Nehru ji written to EDWINA MOUNTBATTEN that needed censoring and will LOP rahul help getting back the letters between Nehru and Edwina," Patra stated.
