Mumbai Rains: Zomato Delivery Agent Delivers Orders on Foot After Bike Breaks Down
Mumbai data-faced severe disruption on wednesday due to torrential rains that resulted in four fatalities, flooded low-lying areas, and halted local train services. Many flights were diverted as well. In the midst of this chaos, a zomato delivery partner, Rahat ali Khan, showed remarkable resilience by delivering orders on foot after his bike broke down.
Khan managed to deliver two orders despite the relentless downpour. One customer, known as “@mittal.swati” on Instagram’s Threads, took to social media to express her gratitude. She shared her experience, noting how Rahat walked to two different locations, drenched from the rain, to complete her delivery. “We ordered food, and Rahat’s bike broke down, but he still walked in this heavy rain!” she wrote. She emphadata-sized the importance of supporting delivery workers who risk their safety in such conditions, adding, “We should really support delivery staff who are out there making our lives easier.”
Mittal also shared a screenshot of her zomato order, which was only delayed by seven minutes despite the adverse weather. The app included a note stating, “It’s raining at the restaurant; your delivery partner may drive slower than usual.” In the comments, she mentioned that she tipped Khan well, saying, “I don’t need to showcase my generosity on social media. I’d rather thank those who help me than seek recognition for being kind.”
Responses to her post were overwhelmingly positive, with one user suggesting, “Support them by not ordering on the app during heavy rains,” while another commented, “I’d think twice before ordering in such torrential conditions.” Many praised Mittal for highlighting such uplifting stories rather than complaints about service delays.
Overall, the incident not only highlighted the dedication of delivery workers like Rahat but also the community’s appreciation for their efforts during challenging times.
