Tiger Attacks Handler at Australian Amusement Park, Staff Quickly Restrain Animal
A tiger mauled its handler at Dreamworld amusement park on Australia’s gold Coast, leaving the 47-year-old worker hospitalized with severe arm injuries, including deep lacerations and puncture wounds. The attack occurred on monday morning around 9 a.m. local time.
Park staff acted swiftly to restrain the tiger before paramedics arrived. Queensland Ambulance service reported that the handler, though pale and unwell, is in stable condition at gold Coast university Hospital. The quick response by first aid providers at Dreamworld helped manage the bleeding effectively.
Dreamworld described the incident as an “isolated and rare event,” emphasizing that their immediate focus is on supporting the injured team member. Despite the attack, the park remained open to the public.It also kept its park open to the public on Monday.Dreamworld says its tiger Island exhibit offers an “interactive” experience allowing visitors to get close enough to “feel the breath of a tiger.” The park’s website promotes opportunities for visitors to feed its bengal and Sumatran tigers.
