Tamil Nadu's Tiger Population Sees Remarkable Growth .!

International World tiger Day is celebrated on june 29 to create awareness among people about the importance of tigers and to save tigers from extinction. The decision was taken at the 2010 St. Petersburg tiger Conference in russia and is observed annually. Some statistics show that almost 75% of the total number of tigers in the world is in India. 

The number of tigers in india decreased drastically only in the year 2000. The central government has taken various measures to prevent this. Following this, data shows that the number of tigers has increased significantly. There are a total of 51 tiger sanctuaries in India. There are 5 sanctuaries in tamil Nadu alone.


 According to the latest information, there are 306 tigers in tamil Nadu alone. It has increased to 306 from 264 in 2018. In this regard, tamil Nadu chief minister Stalin has posted on his twitter page, "Due to the efforts of the tamil Nadu government, the number of tigers has increased from 264 in 2018 to 306 in 2022.  


Therefore, on international tiger Day, let us all pledge to protect tigers," he said. india is home to 75 %of the world's tiger population. A survey conducted by the Wildlife Research Center of india revealed that there are 3,682 tigers in India.
