GOOGLE Will Delete all your Personal Accounts and Content

On Tuesday, google said that it will destroy personal accounts and any content associated with them that had been inactive for at least two years. The business announced that it will delete the content from inactive accounts on YouTube, google Photos, and google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, and Calendar). Although the rule went into force on Tuesday, customers with dormant accounts won't be affected right away, and the business won't start deleting accounts until december 2023 at the earliest.

According to Ruth Kricheli, VP, of Product Management at google, "the policy only applies to personal google Accounts, and will not affect accounts for organizations like schools or businesses." The modification reduces the period of time google stores unused personal information and data-aligns Google's policy with industry standards for account termination and retention.

"An account is more vulnerable to compromise if it hasn't been used for a long time. This is due to the fact that forgotten or unattended accounts frequently have outdated or frequently used passwords that could have been compromised, don't have two-factor authentication set up, and get fewer user security checks, according to Google. According to internal research conducted by google, abandoned accounts are at least 10 times less likely to have 2-step verification set up than active ones.
As a result, these accounts are frequently vulnerable, and once a hacked account has been utilized, it may have been used for anything from identity theft to spreading spam or other undesired or harmful information.
