Climate activists throw mashed potatoes at Monet painting

Anti-fossil fuel protesters on sunday threw mashed potatoes at a Claude Monet painting in a German gallery after throwing tomato soup at a Van Gogh. Two activists for the environment tossed mashed potatoes over the artwork. This occurred only nine days after two London-based girls flung tomato soup at Vincent van Gogh's iconic "Sunflowers" artwork. They can be seen spreading mashed potatoes all over Monet's "Les Meules" in a video that has now gone viral on social media before taping their hands to the wall.

The demonstrators, who are members of the German environmental group "Letzte Generation," attempted to defend their actions by claiming that they were merely serving as a warning about the impending climate catastrophe. They were heard to exclaim, "People are perishing from starvation, cold, and other causes. You're just concerned about tomato soup or mashed potatoes on a picture while the world is experiencing a climate crisis. You know what terrifies me? Science warns us that we won't be able to feed our children in 2050, which makes me afraid."

Does mashed potatoes on a painting have to be there to get your attention? If we have to battle over food, this painting won't be worth anything. When are you going to start listening? When will you start paying attention and cease doing business as usual?" they continued.
