Thor's sad fate is hinted at in the new Thor: love and Thunder teaser. Following the highly anticipated release of doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Marvel Studios is bringing Thor: love and Thunder, directed by Taika Waititi, to the big screen, continuing the Asgardian's journey following the events of Avengers: Endgame. However, based on the second teaser for Thor 4, it appears that this will be the god of Thunder's final appearance.
The full-length official trailer lays out the movie's general story with a clear look at Thor's reunion with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) as Mighty Thor, while the initial teaser trailer mostly focused on Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) personal arc post-Infinity Saga. Gorr the god Butcher, played by Christian Bale, makes his first appearance in the Marvel Studios marketing trailer. Despite all of this, the latest Thor: love and Thunder trailer may have hinted at the Avenger's demise.
The Thor: love and Thunder trailer begins with Korg (Taika Waititi) narrating the story of Thor, focusing on the Asgardian's mission on Earth and his weight-loss struggle following his Fat Thor appearance in Avengers: Endgame. The Kronan, on the other hand, speaks of the god of Thunder in the past tense, implying that by the time he recalls Thor's exploits, he is no longer alive. It's difficult to pinpoint when this sequence occurs in the movie without any context provided by Korg's storytelling. That said, Thor's death in Thor: love and Thunder shouldn't come as a complete surprise, especially given he's up against Gorr the god Butcher, who is hell-bent on avenging gods. It's not out of the question that the Avenger sacrifices himself in order to stop the enemy and save everyone else, including his love, Jane.
