Hotel Owners are planning to raise the price of food items, including Idly and dosa, by up to 20 percent in hotels due to rising gas cylinder prices for commercial use. The price of a commercial gas cylinder has recently gone up by Rs 268 to Rs 2,406. Thus, the cost to hoteliers has increased. Hoteliers say they have been forced to raise food prices. They couldn't take profit in hotels due to covid and also cylinder price hike.
Rajkumar, president of the chennai Hotels Association, said that due to the high price of gas cylinders, it has become very difficult to run a hotel. In the current scenario, there is a need to raise the prices of food items in hotels by 10 to 20 percent. A Hotel Owners Consultative Meeting is scheduled for the 6th to discuss the situation. At this meeting, a decision will be made on how much to raise food prices. Thus he said in a recent interview. The price of the below items will be increased as below.
Single tea price 2 rupees, coffee price 3 rupees, Idli, Puri, Pongal, etc. Price Rs 5, Dosa, parotta price 10 rupees; Meals and biryani prices are said to be as high as 20 rupees.
