Following Bruce Willis' aphasia diagnosis, which forced him to retire from acting, john Travolta pays a poignant homage to him on Instagram. Travolta and Willis first collaborated on the 1989 comedy Look Who's Talking, in which the former plays a cab driver who falls in love with a single mother of a newborn whose story is told by the latter. Despite mixed critical reviews, the picture was a box office success, generating nearly $300 million on a $7.5 million budget and spawning two sequels, the last of which Willis would not return for.
Travolta and Willis later starred in Quentin Tarantino's acclaimed crime movie Pulp Fiction, in which the former played hitman Vincent Vega and the latter played ageing boxer Butch Coolidge, who is on the run from Vega's boss, Marsellus Wallace. Travolta's performance in the film garnered him both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, though he lost both to tom Hanks for his performance in Forrest Gump. In Pulp Fiction, Travolta and Willis only appeared in two moments together: a quick encounter at Marsellus' bar and a conflict that becomes deadly when Butch shoots Vega with his own gun.
Following the actor's family's announcement that he will be retiring from acting, john Travolta turned to instagram to pay tribute to Bruce Willis. The actor reflected on their time together on the Looking Who's Talking films and Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, as well as their friendship.
