Ryan Reynolds Celebrates Deadpool Anniversary With Throwback Photos

With vintage images, Ryan Reynolds commemorates the sixth anniversary of Deadpool's theatrical release. Reynolds made his live-action premiere in the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine as Wade Wilson. That less-than-true portrayal of the character, on the other hand, transformed the wise-cracking warrior into the mute and submissive "Weapon XI."

Due to the studio's refusal to fully embrace the Merc With A Mouth's grandeur, Reynolds (supposedly) posted Deadpool test video online in 2014, causing fan excitement to skyrocket and pressuring studio management to bankroll the R-rated spectacle that is Deadpool. Deadpool, like Wolverine and Hugh Jackman, has proven to be a role that Reynolds was born to portray. Deadpool 2 was more than justified in 2018 after his devoted and hilarious debut as the superhero earned over $784 million at the global ticket sales.

With a combined gross of $1.5 billion, the two films are among the highest-grossing R-rated blockbusters of all time, paving the way for graphic novel pictures like Logan from 2017 and joker from 2019. Now, as fans wait impatiently for Deadpool 3, Reynolds reflects on the film that transformed not only the game, but also his profession.
