Google Phone App Redesigned; Here's How To Revert
Google has rolled out a significant redesign of its phone app, leaving many Android users wondering about the new call screen interdata-face. This update, part of the Material 3 Expressive redesign, introduces a modern and user-friendly layout, but not all users are pleased with the change. Many have taken to social media to express their confusion over the altered appearance and seek guidance on reverting to the previous version.
What’s New in the google phone App?
The redesign has brought notable changes to the phone app’s user interdata-face:
- Combined Favorites and Recents: The new home tab now presents call history alongside a bar displaying favorite contacts.- Revamped Keypad Tab: The keypad has a new style, replacing the old floating action button (FAB).- Voicemail Update: The voicemail list has been refreshed, though major changes are minimal.
Accessing Contacts
Contacts are no longer visible on the main screen; they’ve moved to a navigation drawer. To access them:
1. Navigate to the home tab.2. Tap the three-dot icon in the top-right corner.3. Options such as Settings, Contacts, Clear Call history, and Help will appear.
Changes to the Call Screen
The incoming call screen has also been modified. Users can now accept or decline calls with a horizontal swipe or single tap instead of the traditional vertical swipe. This feature can be customized in Settings → Incoming Call Gestures, aiming to reduce accidental call pickups.
How to Revert to the Old phone App
If you prefer the classic design, you can disable the update through two methods:
