Now the tension of AC-cooler bill is over in summer!
Under the Pradhan Mantri surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna), the work of rooftop installation is going on very fast. On february 13, 2024, prime minister Narendra Modi started this initiative, which has crossed the figure of more than 10 lakh installations by march 10, 2025. So far solar plants have been installed in 10.09 lakh houses.
Target of providing free electricity to 1 crore houses
The aim of this scheme of the government is to provide free electricity to one crore houses using solar energy. This will reduce dependence on traditional energy sources, reduce carbon emissions, clean the environment. Under this scheme, 47.3 lakh applications have been received so far for installing solar plants in homes. Out of these, 6.13 lakh beneficiaries have also received a subsidy of Rs 4,770 crore. For this, you can apply by visiting the portal www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in. The scheme is being run by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), while power companies (DISCOMs) are helping in implementing it.
Subsidy up to Rs 78,000 will be available
Under this scheme, solar panels will generate electricity, which will provide cheap electricity to homes. In this, the government also gives subsidy on installing rooftop solar panels. A subsidy of Rs 30,000 is given for 1 kilowatt, Rs 60,000 for 2 kilowatt and Rs 78,000 for 3 kilowatt. Talking about the cost of installing solar panels, the cost for 1 kilowatt can be around Rs 90 thousand, for 2 kilowatt it can be around Rs 1.5 lakh and for 3 kilowatt it can be up to Rs 2 lakh.
The subsidy given by the government reduces the burden of installing the panel to some extent. Not only this, you will also get a cheap loan at an interest rate of about 7 percent for installing the panel. Suppose your solar panel produces so much electricity that you are unable to consume it, then in this situation you can also earn money by selling the excess electricity.
