Game Informer, one of the longest-running gaming magazines, has recently ceased publication after 33 years. This sudden closure, announced earlier this month, marks the end of an era for the magazine and has been described by the developers of "The Casting of Frank Stone" as a significant loss to the industry.
"The Casting of Frank Stone," a horror game and spin-off set in the universe of the popular multiplayer title "Dead by Daylight," was the final game featured on Game Informer's cover. The game's developers expressed their deep honor at being chosen for this milestone, underscoring the impact of the magazine’s closure on the gaming community.
The game was developed by Supermassive Games, known for their cinematic horror experiences, and Behaviour Interactive, the creators of "Dead by Daylight." The goal of this collaboration was to introduce more players to the "Dead by Daylight" universe through a single-player experience, potentially drawing interest from those who might not engage with the main multiplayer title.
Despite recent layoffs and industry challenges, Mathieu from Supermassive Games conveyed a commitment to innovation and continued investment in new ideas. The game industry, he notes, is taking a more cautious approach to new projects and partnerships, but the drive to explore new horizons remains strong.
Traci, another industry representative, expressed hope that the sector will soon see a resurgence of creativity and innovation. The release of "The Casting of Frank Stone" is set for early September, and while details about future instalments in the series remain under wraps, Mathieu is enthusiastic about the game’s potential to evoke strong emotions and provide a memorable experience for players.
