The indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) has joined hands with food delivery company swiggy to introduce a new project. people who go to the hotel or nearby shops and order food when they are hungry are decreasing drastically. Food delivery apps like swiggy and zomato have come up, so many people order and eat their favorite food. This procedure was not followed by the travelers. irctc and swiggy are teaming up for a new venture where passengers can order and eat their favorite food.
This scheme is being introduced so that if the train passengers order food through the irctc website, they will get the food at the railway station itself. As a preview, food will be delivered to irctc passengers at Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam railway stations. It is also said that the service will be gradually extended to 59 railway stations later. According to irctc officials, this e-catering service will be provided through Bundl Technologies Pvt.Ltd of swiggy Foods.
Speaking about this, irctc Managing director Sanjay Kumar Jain said that irctc is providing an e-catering facility for A and A1 class passengers at around 350 stations and Mail Express trains will stop at these stations for a long time, so delivery will be easier. He also mentioned that they are already working with 17 aggregators including zomato and their e-catering business has already generated revenue of Rs 30 crore this year. He said that they are continuously serving 60,000 meals a day and so far there have been 0 percent complaints. Last year, irctc tied up with food delivery company Zomato. Through this, food was arranged for passengers at New Delhi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow, and varanasi railway stations.
