CERT-In's advisory specifically targets users of older versions of google Chrome OS, stressing the imperative need to update their browsers promptly. The cybersecurity agency identifies security issues in google Chrome OS versions preceding 114.0.5735.350, highlighting vulnerabilities related to the side panel search feature and inadequate data validation in extensions. These vulnerabilities could be exploited by attackers to gain unauthorized access to users' devices, prompting the need for immediate action.


The identified attack vector involves enticing users to visit specially crafted web pages, providing attackers with an opportunity to compromise the targeted devices. In response to these concerns, google has released an updated version of Chrome OS, addressing the security flaws and enhancing user protection.


In addition to the technical remedy, CERT-In advocates for general internet safety precautions. Users are advised to exercise caution, refraining from clicking on links originating from untrusted sources, avoiding suspicious websites, and disregarding messages and emails containing potentially risky links.
