Whatsapp blocked 74 lakh accounts across India..!? What reason?
WhatsApp, which has billions of users worldwide, banned 74.2 lakh accounts in india last August. This is said to be around 2 lakh more than the accounts banned by the company in the previous month. It has been revealed that whatsapp banned these accounts in compliance with the new IT rules of 2021. It has also been reported that out of whatsapp accounts banned in india, around 3,506,905 accounts were banned before any complaints from users.
"We offer our services to prevent and combat abuse. In addition to our security features and controls, we employ a team of engineers, data scientists, analysts, researchers, and experts in law enforcement," whatsapp said in its october india monthly report. In a statement, the company also said, "This user-security report includes details of user complaints received and measures taken by whatsapp and WhatsApp's preventative measures to combat abuse on our platform." Notably, the central government earlier this year introduced the Grievances Appellate Committee (GAC) mechanism, which allows users to appeal against the decisions of social media platforms by filing their complaints on a new portal.
Meanwhile, whatsapp is also redesigning the messaging experience in the Android version of its app. The company is making a few changes, starting with changing some of the colors in the app.
