NASA Artemis launch: Artemis-1's launch postponed, rocket and crew capsule had its first flight test

With this mission, scientists will get to see the capability of the Orion crew capsule. The spacecraft will go to the moon and will put itself into orbit, leaving a few small satellites in orbit. Under this mission, nasa will get training to operate the spacecraft.

The launch of Artemis-1 of the US space agency nasa has been postponed for the time being. nasa tweeted that the launch of Artemis-1 is not taking place today, because of some problem with its engine. Teams are collecting data so that it can be sorted out. We'll keep you posted on the timing of the next launch attempt. It was to be launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The first test flight of the new Space Launch System rocket and Orion crew capsule under Artemis-1 was to take place at 6.30 pm indian time on Monday. The 322-foot (98 m) tall rocket is the most powerful rocket ever built by NASA. It was planned to launch the Orion spacecraft without a crew on a mission of about 42 days from this rocket.

With this mission, scientists will get to see the capability of the Orion crew capsule. The spacecraft will go to the moon and will put itself into orbit, leaving a few small satellites in orbit. Under this mission, nasa will get training to operate the spacecraft. It will also investigate the situation around the moon, which will be experienced by the astronauts and will ensure the safe return of the passengers to Earth.

Prior to the test, during a strong thunderstorm at NASA's Kennedy Space Center on Saturday, the launch pad and 600-foot towers located near the rocket were struck by lightning. Five lightning strikes were confirmed during the investigation. However, neither the rocket nor the capsule was damaged by the storm. nasa Senior Test director Jeff Spaulding said the attack was not strong enough to warrant a large-scale re-test. We are all set for the

Launch.

The Artemis-1 mission will use a new and super heavy rocket from nasa and has been fitted with the Space Launch System, which has never been used before. Unlike the Command service Module of the Apollo missions, the Orion MPCV is a solar-powered system. The distinctive X-wing-style solar arrays can be swung forward or backward to reduce pressure on the shuttle during the mission. It is capable of carrying six astronauts in space for 21 days. Even without a crew, the Artemis-1 mission can last 42 days.

If Artemis-1 successfully reaches Earth orbit, it will prove to be an important milestone for the project. During the mission, Orion will also put into space 10 smaller satellites known as CubeSats.
One of these will contain yeast to see how microgravity and radiation environments affect the growth of microorganisms on the Moon. During this, IceCube will orbit the moon and discover the deposits of ice on the moon and which will be used by future travelers to the moon.

Orion will fire its onboard thrusters to slow the spacecraft down and help the moon's gravity hold it into orbit. During this phase, Orion will travel about 70 thousand kilometers from the moon and will reach the farthest distance from Earth. During this, if there were astronauts in it, then they would have a grand view of the earth and moon from afar.

After spending six to 23 days in lunar orbit, Orion will once again fire its thrusters to exit lunar orbit and return itself to Earth trajectory.
