The first step is to launch a dedicated service for the growing number of electric vehicles worldwide on its google Maps platform.
Sundar Pichai-led google is developing a dedicated navigation feature for electric and hybrid vehicles in its flagship service, google Maps. The segment will offer a new service to customers to enable electric and hybrid cars to travel longer distances, while also showing the route with a charging station. google Maps' latest beta update - version 11.39 - reportedly brings route selection for vehicles with other options including gas, diesel, and electric. The data will reportedly be used to provide better routing that saves energy and fuel.
Google Maps already provides alternative routes for other problems, including traffic jams. But last year google introduced the ability to find charging stations for electric vehicles. In India, google has recently launched a new service on its Maps app, which allows people to pre-calculate the tolls they have to pay when traveling to other states or districts.
Google collects toll data from more than 2,000 tolls in the US, India, Japan, and indonesia and provides this service. google said that it will soon be available in other countries of the world.
