On august 15th, for the event of Independence Day, google has showcased a new doodle on its homepage to sanctify India's effort that saved the country from nearly two centuries of british rule. The Doodle, sketched by Kolkata-based guest artisan Sayan Mukherjee, commemorates India's Independence Day with a picture of the diverse dance styles in the country to mean its “cultural customs traced in centuries of historical development.”

On 2021 Independence Day, google stated in a comment, “At the stroke of midnight on this special day in 1947, India's decades-long crusade for independence crowned as the country became a sovereign republic. Today’s Doodle, embellished by Kolkata, India-based guest artist Sayan Mukherjee, honours India’s Independence Day and its cultural values progressed in centuries of historical development.”

Embellishing on this diverse cultural legend of india, google announced that the country, which is a haven to over an approximated 1.3 billion people or one-sixth of the total world population, is distinguished by thousands of discrete languages and ethnic societies within its frontiers. “Indians over the subcontinent’s 29 states commemorate their freedom with procedures such as traditional dance displays, which differ depending on regional culture,” it said.

The google doodle, decorated by Mukherjee, showcases these assorted forms of dance. The artwork depicts the classical culture of Bharatnatyam (on the far left), the oldest indian dance technique in india with roots stretching back 3,000 years in tamil Nadu. Pictured on the far right, the masked reenactments from indian epics known as Chhau dance have roots in the eastern lands of Jharkhand, West bengal and Odisha.

“Happy Independence Day, India!” google addressed in its statement.

Artist Sayan Mukherjee stated, when he was first approached, he started visualizing  India's rich culture, and tradition. Since india is such an immense country with such a diverse community, there is only one thing that unites all of us together and that is unity in diversity,” he stated. That was the push factor and captured that from the doodle.
