Moon Knight's Missing MCU Ties Avoid 4 Marvel Problems

Moon Knight, the newest Disney+ series, looks to be a solid addition to the MCU, owing to how distant it is from the bigger universe. As Steven Grant/Marc Spector, oscar Isaac impresses in a part that allows him to show off his range. Justin Benson, Mohamed Diab, and Aaron Moorhead directed the opening episode, which was scripted by Jeremy Slater and set up a number of riddles that will be investigated throughout the series.

Moon Knight is also renowned for depicting Marc Spector's Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) (DID). Spector's DID appears in the form of alternate personalities, or "alters," which he developed in part as a result of childhood trauma. In the first episode, moon Knight doubled down on leveraging Spector's DID as a storytelling device, resulting in some very unique action sequences and hilarity. In the past, depictions of DID in cinema and television have sparked debate - for example, M. Night Shyamalan's Split - but moon Knight appears to be making a concerted attempt to toe the line in this case.

The focus on Marc Spector's DID is one component of moon Knight that sets it distinct from how heroes have been portrayed and introduced in the MCU so far, but it's far from the only way Marvel is shaking things up with this instalment. The fact that Thanos was not mentioned in the first episode felt like a deliberate omission by Marvel, and moon Knight producer Grant Curtis has stated that prior MCU knowledge isn't required to enjoy the show. Finally, there are a few reasons why the series benefits from a lack of immediate link to the larger MCU.
