Bridgerton Is Already Setting Up Its 8th & Final Season

Even though the finale of Bridgerton is still a long way off, a key incident has already set the tone for season 8. The Netflix-Shondaland historical drama follows the framework of Julia Quinn's book series, focusing each season on a different Bridgerton sister on their journey for marriage and love. Despite the fact that Netflix has just renewed Bridgerton for seasons 3 and 4, one scene in the season 2 finale hinted at a character who will play a major role in the show much later.

Season 2 of Bridgerton focuses on Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), the eldest Bridgerton sibling, and his hunt for a suitable wife. Unlike his sister Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), who was looking for a love match rather than just someone to marry in Bridgerton season 1, Anthony was devoted to the idea of marrying for duty, being a viscount, and having to ensure descendants upon whom to transmit his title. Despite its framework, the tv programme managed to strike an excellent balance between the need to follow the season's main story—and the main Bridgerton sibling—while also focusing on other characters and their storey arcs.

This was continued in Bridgerton season 2, which not only began Eloise's investigation into the debate over women's rights, but also continued Benedict's interest in art. As he always yearned for a purpose, this is a key part of his life in his book, An Offer from a Gentleman. While both Bridgerton seasons 1 and 2 didn't give Francesca or Hyacinth nearly enough screen time, Bridgerton season 2 did give Gregory, another forgotten Bridgerton brother, more attention (Will Tilston).
