Sri Lankan batsman Kamindu Mendis is not stopping for anyone. He has crossed the 1000 run mark in the 13th innings of his Test career. He has done this feat in the second match of the current Test series against New Zealand. sri lanka declared the first innings at a score of 602 runs. Mendis has created history by scoring an unbeaten 182 runs in this match.

Kamindu Mendis has now equaled Sir Don Bradman in terms of scoring the fastest 1,000 runs in the history of Test cricket. Mendis achieved this feat in the 13th innings of his career and Don Bradman also took 13 innings to complete 1,000 runs in his Test career. However, the record for scoring the fastest 1,000 runs is jointly held by England's Herbert Sutcliffe and West Indies' Ed Weeks, who completed a thousand runs in 12 innings.

5 centuries and 4 fifties in 8 matches

Kamindu Mendis made his Test debut in July 2022 playing against Australia, in which he scored a half-century of 61 runs. But after returning to the Sri Lankan team in 2024, his bat is raining runs. Mendis has played 8 Test matches in his career so far, in which he has scored 5 centuries and 4 fifties in 13 innings. Mendis's brilliant figures show that he is scoring 50 runs or more in almost 2 out of every 3 innings.

Kamindu Mendis has now become the fastest batsman to score 1,000 runs in Test cricket. Before him, vinod kambli of india had completed 1000 Test runs in 14 innings and till now he was at the top of the list of Asian batsmen. But now Mendis has also made the record of being the fastest Asian batsman to score 1000 Test runs.
