Will cricket also be included in youth Olympics?

The olympics were hosted by paris in 2024, which ended recently. Now the next olympics will be hosted by Los Angeles in 2028. cricket will also be seen in the olympics to be held in Los Angeles. Then cricket can also be seen in the 2030 youth olympics (Youth olympics 2030) to be held after this. There can be a big deal between ICC and international Olympic Committee (IOC) on the inclusion of cricket in the youth Olympics.

The idea of including cricket in the youth olympics came from an announcement by the government of India, in which the intention to bid for hosting the 2030 youth olympics and the 2036 olympics was expressed. According to a report by 'Cricbuzz', ICC's General Manager of Development William Glenwright gave a positive response to an email to a person named vivek Gopalan. Glenwright said, "It's a good idea and it's something we can look into." Gopalan's email and Glenwright's response were also sent to ICC CEO Geoff Allardice,

Wasim Khan, Claire Furlong and chris Tetley. Gopalan has argued that cricket has strong potential in the youth olympic games and mumbai is bidding for the 2030 youth Olympics. Gopalan wrote to the ICC that prime minister Narendra Modi has publicly expressed his desire to host the youth olympics 2030 and the 2036 Olympics.

Let us tell you that PM Modi had hinted about the youth olympics while addressing the Olympic Committee session in mumbai in october last year. Currently, the focus of the indian government has shifted to olympics 2036. PM Modi also talked about olympics 2036 in his Independence Day speech. The email sent to the ICC to include cricket in the youth olympic games presents arguments and talks about making cricket a part of the games. It said, "All top sports including rugby sevens are part of the youth Olympics. Then why not cricket? Inclusion of cricket in the youth olympics will revolutionise grassroots cricket globally, especially among ICC Associates."
