Up to the fourth format, he captained pakistan regularly in all three formats. Regarding his resignation from the captaincy, Babar posted on social media, saying, "I still vividly recall the moment when I got a call from PCB in 2019 to captain Pakistan."

The coach, players, and team management all worked together to achieve the top spot in the white ball format, he continued, adding, "But I want to take this opportunity to convey my appreciation to the passionate Pakistani fans for their unwavering support during this journey." In addition, the former captain of pakistan wrote, "I am stepping down from my position as Pakistan's captain effective immediately. Though it's a tough choice, I believe the moment is perfect.
